Retina Glaucoma Phaco-Emulsification& Refractive Surgeries

Retina

The goal is to train the Ophthalmologists who have recently completed residency/MD/MS/Post Graduate through intensive training and to impart skills in the recent advances in the diagnosis and management of Vitreo-Retinal diseases.
 
Duration :

18 months

University :

Affiliated by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences

Session commences :

Every year January and July

Places available :

Two in each session.

Eligibility :

MS or MD or DNB or DO with one year experience in ophthalmology.

University Fees :

Rs. 25,000/- per year

Stipend : Rs. 40,000/- pm.

Glaucoma

Curriculum

Clinical/Diagnostics: The Fellow will be trained in the use of applanation tonometry, Gonioscopy, Visual Fields, Nerve Fiber, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy Ultrasound Biomicroscopy analyzer, OCT, YAG peripheral Iridotomy, Cyclodestructive procedures, Trabeculectomy, stereoscopic disc evaluation (78D lens), automated perimetry examination with Humphery, Combined Procedures and Disc Photography.
 
Training in the use of Laser equipment: Nd-YAG iridotomy, Selective laser trabeculoplasty, suturolysis, and gonioplasty, Transcleral cyclophotocoagulation
 

Microsurgical techniques
Assisting all glaucoma surgeries
Surgery for congenital glaucoma
Trabeculectomy with or without mitomycin C
Trabeculectomy with ECCE or Phaco with PC IOL
Glaucoma implant surgeries

For the next one year the fellow will be assigned to the glaucoma subspecialty, with a rotation period in Cornea OPD/OT, Refractive OT/OPD & Contact Lens Clinic. Will be on duty weekly once and on rotation on holidays.  The fellow will handle independent OPD on their duty days and as and when required.

At the end of fellowship there will be a theory and practical examination conducted through RGUHS.
 

Phaco-Emulsification& Refractive Surgeries

12 months
