Diabetic Retinopathy Service is dedicated to the care of patients with diabetic retinopathy. They are involved in the assessment, health education and management of diabetic retinopathy. The Retina Clinic is also involved in the screening of diabetic retinopathy using fundus photography without dilatation. We have 90D and 78D lens (Volk) for fundus examination.

Laser photocoagulation is the main mode of treatment for diabetic retinopathy. In certain situations, vitreous surgery may also be required. Other retinal diseases encountered include retinal vascular occlusions, including central retinal and branch retinal vein occlusions.

Macular diseases including age-related macular degneration, choroidal neovascularization and central serous retinopathy are also conditions managed in the Service. Some of these conditions may be amenable to laser photocoagulation treatment. We have the capability to provide photodynamic therapy for subfoveal choroidal neovascularization using Visudyne.

The Vitreo Retina has a fully equipped medical photography department, able to perform fundus photography, fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography using state of the art digital IMAGENET 2000 which is installed first of its kind in Karnataka.
